On the screen was a painting. The main characters in the painting were creatures that looked like people.
They looked like people because the creatures in the painting had heads, arms, and legs. They looked like people, but they didn't have faces.
Their faces were supposed to have noses, eyes, and mouths, but there was only a blank slate. There was nothing on them. They were all faceless people.
If that was all, Han Sen and the others wouldn't have thought it was so weird. With their knowledge, they had seen all kinds of weird creatures. They wouldn't have been scared by a few faceless people.
What scared them the most was the content of the reliefs.
The screen was more than 100 meters long and was divided into six pictures. The first picture was of a dilapidated city gate tower. In front of the city gate tower stood a few faceless people. One of the faceless people was using a sword to hack at the city gate tower.
Han Sen and the others could only see the backs of the faceless people in this painting. They couldn't see their faces, but when he thought about it and looked at the painting again, Han Sen felt his scalp go numb. Goosebumps broke out all over his body.
"Holy sh * t! The faceless people in these reliefs can't be us, can they?" Han Sen stared at the first painting.
Although he could only see the back of the faceless man who used the sword to hack the city gate, it was very similar to the scene of the Night Wind Sword hacking the city gate.
There were two faceless people standing next to the painting, and one was lying on the ground. They were Han Sen, Miss Mirror, and the Duke they had brought with them.
No matter how Han Sen looked at it, it looked like they had entered the city. But because the faceless people in the reliefs were very abstract, he couldn't tell if the faceless people were Han Sen or not.
Han Sen and Miss Mirror looked at each other. Then, they looked at the second painting in unison. It showed the same four faceless people. They were standing back to back. Not far in front of them was a sword that had been thrust into the ground.
They didn't need to think about it. This was what they had seen when they first saw the sword.
There was no suspense in the third picture. It was the picture of them standing in front of the screen. The three faceless men were looking at the picture on the screen. Only one faceless man was lying on the ground. It was exactly the same as their current image.
"Humph! Who's playing tricks here? Come out!" Ye Feng snorted and slashed at the screen with his Sword of Darkness.
It was obvious that unless the creator of the reliefs had the power to predict the future, they couldn't have carved these reliefs in advance.
The only possibility was that someone had used some kind of power to condense such a screen and relief when they arrived here.
Many of the dark substance chains slashed against the screen. They shattered the darkness, but they couldn't leave a single mark on the screen. The screen was as hard as a deified treasure.
"Stop wasting your energy. Let's finish this," Miss Mirror said..
Night Wind's attacks were useless. He retreated and continued looking at the reliefs.
Han Sen knew what Miss Mirror meant. The third painting showed them standing in front of the screen. There were three more paintings. If the reliefs had been carved before, then the next three paintings would have been a prediction of what would happen to them.
If there was no prediction of what would happen next, or if the prediction wasn't accurate, then it meant that someone was playing tricks on them. They didn't have the power to predict the future, so they didn't need to be afraid of the reliefs.
Han Sen looked at the fourth painting. It still showed the four faceless people, but this time, they were standing in front of a tree. This time, they weren't facing away from the tree.
One of the faceless people was on the ground, and the other two were still facing away from the tree. But the last faceless person was facing away from the tree, and his faceless head was visible.
One of the faceless men, who only had his back, held a sword in his hand. The sword pierced through the chest of the faceless man in front of him. Blood could be seen flowing down the blade.
"Is this a prophecy that we will kill each other?" Han Sen thought to himself.
Night Wind looked at the fourth painting and frowned. Miss Mirror didn't react, though. She moved on to the fifth painting.
In the fifth painting, one of the faceless people was missing. There were only three left. One of them was still on the ground, and the other two were on the ground as well. They looked like they were tangled together. Judging from the painting, the faceless person on the top had his hands around the neck of the faceless person on the bottom.
"What a trick!" Night Wind grunted.
This was a reliefs that predicted they would kill each other. Night Wind didn't think much of it. He seemed to think that someone was playing tricks on them, and that someone was trying to scare them.
Miss Mirror didn't react, though. She continued looking at the sixth painting.
The sixth painting was even weirder. There were only two faceless people left. One of them was lying on the ground, and the other was kneeling with his hands clasped together. It looked like he was praying to a god.
In front of the praying faceless person was a statue with a thousand hands and a thousand eyes. It was the same statue that Han Sen had seen on the stone path.
"There must be a living creature in this city. It is playing tricks on us," Night Wind said with disdain.
Han Sen knew why Night Wind was so disdainful. He wasn't trying to show his disdain for the reliefs. He was trying to show his loyalty.
The four faceless people's faces couldn't be seen clearly. Their bodies were vague, and it was impossible to tell who was who.
But the faceless man with the sword was an obvious target. The Duke on the ground was bound by substance chains, so he couldn't move. That faceless man had to be the one lying on the ground.
Of the remaining three people, only Night Wind used a sword. And he was famous for his sword skills. The faceless man with the sword was him. That was why Night Wind was so eager to show his loyalty to Miss Mirror.
If what was depicted in the painting really happened, it wouldn't matter who Night Wind stabbed. It would be bad for him.
He didn't know that Han Sen was a fake Prince Sixteen. If he killed Prince Sixteen or Miss Mirror, who was both the king's right-hand woman and his sister, Night Wind couldn't bear the consequences.
Deified elites were strong, but compared to the Extreme King, a single deified elite was nothing.
"It doesn't matter if he is a god or a ghost. If he doesn't show up, that means he is afraid of us.
Night Wind, keep leading the way, "Miss Mirror said calmly.
She still looked like a lady. She didn't seem to care about the reliefs at all.
Han Sen didn't mind. Just as Miss Mirror said, even if the reliefs had been created by someone, that person didn't dare attack them directly. That meant they had to be afraid. If that was the case, they would feel a lot safer.
